It's normal to feel hesitant or ambivalent about therapy, about changing. I specialize in meeting you where you are and helping you turn readiness to change into healing and transformation, one step at a time. With strategy, empathy and a healthy sense of well-timed humor I'll help you develop skills and resources to heal from trauma, reduce or eliminate the harm from use of alcohol or drugs, create deeper intimacy with healthy boundaries, and adapt any ineffective, habitual attachment behaviors. I work within the context of your unique biopsychosocial environment and history because I like to be down to earth, and I work experientially/somatically because I believe evoking and working directly with emotions, thoughts, sensations, images and behaviors is more effective than talking about them.

I'm a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT45718) with over fourteen years experience helping people resolve problems with trauma, alcohol and drugs, relationship problems, attachment issues, and parenting concerns. I've worked in outpatient and residential settings with adults, children 0-5, and teens. I have specialized training in and dedication to working with LGBT people and the Latino communities. I am fully Certified in EMDR (vs having the basic training certificate), a graduate of the Hakomi Training program, a student of Somatic Experiencing, a student of Nutritional Psychology, and have received specialized training in Motivation Interviewing and Harm Reduction. For more about what those modalities are, visit my Resources page.
